Jeep Wrangler Spare Tire Covers — Exact Sizing for JL, JK & TJ

The spare tire is the most visible accessory on any Wrangler — it's the first thing people see when you're parked or driving away. A Jeep Wrangler spare tire cover that fits correctly and looks good says something about the driver. This page covers sizing, camera hole requirements, and installation for every Wrangler generation.

Wrangler Size by Generation — Get This Right First

  • JL (2018–present): 33 inch / 83.8 cm diameter · Camera hole required (backup camera is on the spare)
  • JK (2007–2018): 32 inch / 81.3 cm diameter · No camera hole needed
  • TJ (1997–2006): 30 inch / 76.2 cm diameter · No camera hole needed

If you've upgraded to larger aftermarket tires, measure the actual outer diameter of your spare while inflated — the sizing above applies to OEM/stock tire sizes. Use our free size calculator to confirm.

JL Wrangler Owners — Camera Hole Is Not Optional

The 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL has a backup camera mounted directly on the spare tire cover bracket. Every stock cover from Jeep includes a camera cutout for this reason. A cover without a cutout blocks the lens completely — your backup camera will show a black screen while reversing.

We offer two JL-compatible options: With Camera Hole (fixed circular opening) or With Elastic Backup Camera Hole (stretches over the camera housing, sealing out moisture). Both keep your reverse camera fully functional. The same applies to the Jeep Gladiator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size spare tire cover fits a Jeep Wrangler JL? +
The Jeep Wrangler JL (2018 and newer) fits a 33-inch spare tire cover. Select 33" at checkout. The JL also requires a camera hole — select "With Camera Hole" or "With Elastic Camera Hole" to keep your backup camera working. Use our size guide if unsure.
What's the difference between JK and JL spare tire cover sizes? +
The Wrangler JK (2007–2018) uses a 32-inch spare; the JL (2018+) uses a 33-inch spare. They are not interchangeable — a 32-inch cover on a 33-inch spare will be too loose. Always select the size matching your model year.
Can I use a Jeep Wrangler cover on a lifted Jeep with larger tires? +
Yes, but measure your actual spare tire first. If you've installed 35-inch aftermarket tires on your JL, you need a 35-inch cover — not the stock 33-inch. Measure the outer diameter of your inflated spare and select that size at checkout. Our free size calculator can help.
